Hello, In my nearly year old copy of a book called " Free Health Care" I will share the information from several of those pages. If your doctor diagnoses you for a disease but you can't afford treatment, you should check to see whether the National Institutes of Health is studying the disease and looking for patients to be treated at no cost. There are several ways to find out about ongoing clinical trials across the nation. Have your doctor call the Patient Referral Line at 800-411-1222 or 301-496-4891 to find out if your diagnosis is being studied and ask to be put in contact with the primary investigator who can then tell if you meet the requirements for the study. an information brochure is avalable describing the Clinical Center programs at http://www.cc.nih.gov and select the category "Current Clinical Research Studies" -OR- Grateful Med users can access the online resource by selecting HSTAT from the database collection. Contact: Clinical Center National Institues of Health..Bethesda, MD 20892 or call: 301-496-2563.
